His cold, dead body lies on the pavement surrounded by the river.
His thoughts for an empowered society took his life.
They put an end to the existence of his body but how will they kill his thoughts.
The thoughts of a man fighting for the oppressed will remain eternal.
He fought relentless for a society free of religious prejudices,
The radicals exploited the name of religion to exploit the poor through superstitious beliefs;
One man stood for a society free of discrimination and a clear vision;
He refused to be bugged down by death threats;
He believed in the religion of humanity and suppression of actions and beliefs;
He has a dream;
A dream where society will think on their well-being devoid of prejudices, blurred vision and images;
A dream of a secular world where religious, ethnic and caste consideration will disappear as we look at the spiritual side of life;
They wanted to finish him;
It was cold-blooded murder;
How can his soul perish?
His thoughts will remain alive, as the struggle for clear vision continues
PS: The poem is dedicated to the rationalist and social worker, Dr Narendra Dabholkar who was murdered on Tuesday for fighting against Black Magic and superstitious beliefs. He received threats from radical Hindus who used religion to siphon money off the poor.
