Amitabh Bachchan’s Buddha Hoga Tera Baap continued its long sustained run at the Box office as per Friday’s collection. It collected on average Rs 19 crores and thus, successfully completed its long run and set the cash registers ringing all over India. The film is running to packed houses in every theatre and it seems that it is not making a section of the media happy. False figures were reported by some intellectually dishonest newspapers and trade magazines who misled people on the actual box office figure. These dishonest trade figures were manipulated and the true figures of Buddha were under reported. Such mudslinging reports never triumph and as at yesterday, the movie completed more than a successful week, despite a strong competition in the form of Murder- 2.
To start with, Bbudah reported three times more than what is being reported by the media and the movie has finally triumphed. I condemned the anti Bachchan campaign mounted by some unethical people as figures were missing. Made at a modest budget of Rs 10 crores, Rs 17 -18 crores have been registered and considering the satellite rights sold, the movie already amde Rs 25 to 30 crores in total. As Bbudah picked up on Saturday and maintained its consistent run on Friday, it marks the return of Amitabh Bachchan who is patronised by audience cut across ages, from people in 50s to 25 and early 20s.
It is unethical to support my claims with facts on the box office figures of Buddha Hogaa Tera Baap. Here, are the figures for the BO collections:
Indian Express as at July 7
The first half of 2011 saw lukewarm business for the Hindi film industry; the next six months will decide whether this year is a hit or a flop
With Aamir Khan’s Delhi Belly and Amitabh Bachchan-starrer Bbuddah Hoga Tera Baap raking in excellent weekend collections, the second half of 2011 is off to a flying start.
This clearly shows that BHTB sustained itself and maintained consistency as per collections.
Times of India box office report as at July 4:
Amitabh Bachchan’s back!
With Bbuddah Hoga Terra Baap, Amitabh Bachchan has once again proved that he is the asli baap of Hindi cinema. The Shahenshah of Bollywood’s electrifying performance in this masala entertainer, that is in parts a tribute to Hindi cinema’s biggest legend, has been receiving an overwhelming response across India after a slow start on release day.
Trade guru Taran Adarsh says, “Bbuddah… is a must for all Bachchan fans and even for those who love larger-than-life commercial cinema. They don’t make them like this any longer.” Bachchan’s power-packed dialogues and impressive action sequences, plus his inimitable singing and dancing skills, have been greeted with claps and whistles across India.
Says a theatre owner in Central India, “The Big B has proved once again that he is one of the few actors in Hindi cinema whose fan following cuts across generations. Family audiences are lapping up this film.”
India’s leading celebrity columnist Shobhaa De says, “My gut feeling says that Bbuddah… will make pretty good money down the line only because it is a clean film. BHTB establishes one thing unambiguously—there is no pro like an old pro. Amitabh is still the best.”
Vikram Malhotra, COO, Viacom 18 says, “We are delighted with the extremely warm and positive reactions that Bbuddah Hoga Terra Baap is receiving from fans worldwide. Mr Bachchan is a legend and an icon of our country. His return to the silver screen in his trademark angry and flamboyant style has driven his fans to a state of hysteria! He is back with a bang and we are proud to be the co-producers of this landmark film in Indian cinema history. Bbuddah Hoga Terra Baap will always be remembered as the film that gave this new generation a chance to witness Bachchan Mania.”
Now what India Glitz has to say about figures on Tuesday;
